Plan, Set, Go : 5 Tips for Creating A Vision Board

Hello 2019 ! New year, new goals ! Some people say that the way you start your year, determines the way it will go. I’m not that superstitious, but I do believe in the power of setting your intentions and goals, at the beginning of a new year, or even a new chapter, in life.

Over the weekend, I decided to create a vision board for that represented my goals and wants for 2019 in all areas of my life ( ie. love, spirituality, career, travel, relationships, and more). One of the things that I like most about creating a vision board, is feeling like I’m actually shaping the direction in which my life will go, with each cut of a picture or word, out of the magazines. But of course it’s not enough to just cut out inspirational phrases and pretty pictures, its about putting these your vision to work!

When planning to make your vision board (Yes, you should have a plan), it’s important to be intentional and really think about what you want to get out of the year or time period for which you’re making it. From the types of magazines I use, to the placement of each clipping on the board, everything that goes into creating my vision board is well thought out. This year I decided to use a cork board, instead of gluing the clippings to the board, so I can remove things, as their acheieved, and add new goals!

I have to say that each year that I’ve made a vision board, almost everything on the board was achieved. I always put it somewhere that it can be seen, daily, as a reminder and motivation to continue to work towards my goals.

If you’re planning to make a vision board this year, Here are 5 tips to help you get started:

  1. Get clear idea of what you really want to accomplish and only cut out images that speak to that.

(You can also use your own photos or print out pictures, using a photo printer.)

  2. Think about the direction in which you want your life to go next and use that as the theme for your board.

  3. Ask yourself, what you would do differently... IF THERE WAS NOTHING HOLDING YOU BACK?

  4. Hang your vision board in a prominent place, where you’ll see it often throughout the day.

  5. Have fun with it and remember it and remember that you are capable of accomplishing anything that you are willing to work for !
