Weekend Escape to Palm Springs

On the road to Palm Springs…

On the road to Palm Springs…

Sometimes you just want to get away, for the weekend, without having to get on a plane. This is where a good ol' fashion road trip comes into play. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to hop on a plane at a moments notice, but sometimes you need to stop and appreciate whats in your own backyard. It's crazy to believe that people can live in a certain state and never really get out and explore. I've lived in Los Angeles and have yet to see all that this beautiful state has to offer. So this past weekend I decided to escape to the desert, for a little relaxation in Palm Springs.

** A helpful tip: If you're driving to Palm Springs on Friday, I suggest leaving before 2pm, unless you want a 2.5 hour drive to turn into a 4.5 hour drive**

Here are a few highlights from my trip:

The Hotel

La Serena Villas

When looking for a place to stay in Palm Springs, I came across this little gem on Hotels.com. I was instantly in love with the aesthetic when I saw a turquoise blue, claw foot tub, in one of the rooms, but I still did some investigating on Instagram,  just to make sure it lived up to the pictures on their site. ( "you'd be surprised by the miracles of good lighting") But to my delight, as I pulled up to the hotel, I realized the pictures didn't even do it justice. This hotel was basically a lifestyle blogger's dream. From the retro style Linus bikes, parked out front, to the private outdoor terrace with a claw foot tub and fire pit, it was clear that they're all about the details.

One of my favorite things about the hotel was the complimentary breakfast, delivered to my room, via picnic basket, every morning.

When it comes to finding things to do in Palm Springs, you must first ask yourself, " How long can I last, in 112-degree heat? " After you get past the initial shock and peel yourself out of bed, there are a number of things you can do from taking an evening bike ride around town to shopping at the local boutique or just taking a break and relaxing by the pool. If you're really up for an adventure you can take a trip over to the Palm Springs Aeriel Tramway, where you'll be whisked away 8000 ft in the air, in a rotating tram-car, while enjoying views of the San Jacinto State Park and Coachella Valley. Keep in mind this is not for the faint of heart. Halfway through the 10-minute ride, my motion sickness started to kick in. :(

And if all else fails, Palm Springs provides the perfect backdrop to liven up your Instagram feed, so snap away!

P.S.  The french toast at Trio is a must and the rack of lamb at Sammy G's Tuscan Grill is soo good!
